Product Description
This painting is from the Baramasa series of Kangra paintings depicting month of Bhadon (August-Sept). A lady standing on a terrace is pointing towards the clouds, streak of lightening and falling rain to convince her lover to stay with her in the delightful month of Bhadon. The painting is inspired by the following poem (translated to English) of famous Hindi poet Keshavdas from Kavipriya:
The purple clouds are gathering, the thunder rolls and rain pours in torrents. The wind blows fiercely, the cicadas chirp continuously, tigers and lions roar and herds of elephants fell the trees. The day is dark like the night. Living at home is like nectar and separation is like poison. So I pray, leave me not in this month of Bhadon.
